⭐️ Officially 1 year and 1 month sober. It’s kind of wild to already be a month into year two…hopefully a lifetime of this.

I’m really damn proud of myself…
Proud that my weekends aren’t spent drinking. Proud that I’m not wasting money on alcohol. Proud that I made it through one of the hardest years of my life completely sober. And I’m especially proud that I don’t even think about drinking when making plans anymore. That used to control everything. Where I’d go, how I’d get home, who I’d invite over…all just to make sure I could drink. Looking back, it was a pretty dark place to be stuck in. I’m so grateful those days are behind me.

For a long time, I was hiding behind a bottle of wine…or if you really knew me, a box. It was never just one, not two—it was always more, more, more. And people laughed. I laughed. But it wasn’t funny. It was sad. I needed help, and I didn’t even fully admit it to myself at the time. I so desperately needed help. I’m thankful I was finally able to admit that to myself.

In a world where drinking is everywhere and constantly glorified, I just want to say this—if you’re thinking about making a change, or even just questioning things, you’re not alone. There are people and support out there.

I’m only a little over a year in, but if you ever need to talk, I’m here 🩷

I never really got into the bar or club scene. Not because I didn’t want to drink, it was the crowds. The overwhelm. Social anxiety and drinking is a weird mix.

The ironic part is once I started drinking, I became so social. Outgoing. Like a completely different version of myself.

But sitting with it now, I see it for what it was. I really believed I couldn’t enjoy a night out without drinking. Like there was no way I could be fun or relaxed or even myself without it. And I was wrong.

Alcohol had a hold on me. It made me think it was helping. Helping me cope, helping me talk to people, helping me be someone people liked. But it wasn’t me. It was a mask. And I don’t want that anymore.

I actually like who I am today. More than I ever liked that version of me back then. No more pretending. No more hiding behind something. What you see now is just me.

And this journey has also shown me, in some really hard ways, who’s actually there for me… and who isn’t.

Do any of you ever get so overwhelmed with all the new things you want to try? My creative side is in absolute overdrive lately and wants to do all the things — knit, embroidery, clay work, journaling, crochet, paint.
On top of that I still want to keep making jewelry, read and/or listen to books, stay active, and bake. And I still have to plant my seeds and get my indoor seedlings started… so add gardening to the list. 🌱
At this point I feel like I need to make myself a creative timetable just to fit it all in. 😂
Honestly though, it’s a good problem to have. If I were still drinking, I don’t think I’d be getting much of anything done. I’m really grateful to be at a place where I can spend my time creating, learning new things, and doing things that actually make me feel healthier and happier.🥰

I don’t know what it is lately, but I feel like doing all the things — baking, knitting, crocheting, crafting… anything with my hands. 🧶✨

My brain doesn’t do well with idle time. It gets loud there. I’ve noticed these little rituals help quiet my mind in a way nothing else really does. I’ve always had an addictive personality — when I enjoy something, I dive all the way in. And for a long time, that energy went somewhere that slowly took pieces of me. But I’m learning that energy can be redirected into things that actually create something instead of take something away.

Right now, keeping my hands busy is keeping my mind steady. It feels productive, grounding, and honestly… kind of healing. 🤍

I’m really enjoying learning and creating, so if anyone has yarn they’re not using, I’d Love to give it a new life. There’s something powerful about learning new things and choosing what you pour your energy into. 🪡

I can’t believe I did it. I’m so fucking proud of myself. And I’m even prouder that my husband and I did this together. One year of sobriety side by side. He’s always been my biggest fan, my loudest cheerleader, and my rock.

I know I’ve said this before, but I’ll say it again — this has been the most difficult year of my life mentally -I was truly tested. And I’m not going to lie… there were moments I didn’t think I’d stay sober with everything being thrown my way.
But I did. I’m so fucking glad I stayed strong. Choosing myself every single day was worth it.

Well… shit. 11 months.
I honestly didn’t think I could make it through one day without drinking, and here we are—11 months later. A lot of good has happened, and a whole lot of shit has happened too. I’ve been tested in ways I never imagined… and I’m still sober. Who would’ve thought? When I first told people I quit drinking, I’m sure some thought it wouldn’t last. That it was a joke. But today, I’m proud as hell to be here. I still take it one day at a time—some days, one minute at a time. I’ve had incredible support along the way—some unexpected, some new, some rekindled—and I’m grateful for every person who showed up when it mattered. I’ve also watched people fade out and some things fall apart. And honestly? That’s been part of the gift. Sobriety didn’t just change my habits—it gave me clarity, and clarity comes with hard truths. I’m proud to be sober. Yeah, some days I want to drink—but I want my life, my peace, and my future more. I didn’t come this far to go back. Not today. I hope, not ever! .l

January 12th and I’m already counting down until this dark, cold month is over.
But honestly… it’s been a pretty decent start to the year.
Pilates. Yoga. Baking. Organizing. Reading. Journaling.
Keeping my mind busy with things that feel grounding and good — because when I don’t, my anxious brain loves to take the wheel and run wild. It can be so overwhelming.
There was a time when I tried to quiet that noise with a glass (or bottle) of wine. It felt like relief… until it wasn’t. The anxiety always came back louder, stronger, and heavier. What I thought was helping was really just pouring fuel on the fire.
I still have moments where I crave the taste, the comfort, the idea of “just one.” But I know myself well enough now to know that one isn’t where it stops — and I’m not willing to set myself up for failure. I’m done with the bullshit. I’ve worked so hard and I’m nearing 11 months of sobriety.
Here’s to choosing growth, stability, and real peace — even when it’s uncomfortable. I’ll keep adjusting, learning, and moving forward for my mental and physical health 🤍

As 2025 comes to an end, I can honestly say I’m looking forward to 2026.
2025 was probably the hardest year for me mentally, but I can also recognize that good things came from it. Friendships were rekindled. Tough but necessary decisions were made to remove negativity from my life. I became more active, began my sober journey, reconnected with family out west, and spent Christmas with my dad for the first time since 1995.
None of it was easy, but it was meaningful. As I head into the new year, I’m hoping the things that have been huge contributors to my stress and anxiety are soon resolved so I can move forward and simply live my life. I’m also hoping for continued growth, better physical and mental health, and genuine happiness.
Here’s to healing, progress, and brighter days ahead.

Happy 18th Birthday to our not so little girl @averydor I know everyone says this but it’s so damn true….time goes by way too fast and it feels just like yesterday that you were just a baby. We are so proud of you. Love you so so much.

9 months sober.
The only other time in my adult life I went this long without drinking was when I was pregnant. This year has felt painfully slow with all the bullshit, yet somehow I’m still floored that it’s been nine months since my last drink.
9 months ago today was Day 1—my best friend’s 40th birthday. I almost cancelled, but I told myself if I couldn’t get through that night, I might as well not even try. So I went. I showed up. I was surrounded by friends drinking and having fun… and I didn’t drink. When I got home that night, I actually felt good. I knew it was time. I was ready.
There have been so many “firsts” this year:
First long weekend sober.
First summer sober.
First birthday sober.
And soon—my first Christmas 🎄 and New Year’s ✨ sober.
Here’s to the upcoming holidays as a sober woman. Here’s to more firsts, more strength, and more clarity. 💫🧡

I promised I wouldn’t sugar coat things so I’m being open and honest. I haven’t been okay. Mentally, I’ve been in a really bad space. So much has been happening—not just recently, but all year. It’s felt like one thing after another, and honestly, I’m exhausted.
When this year started, I was excited about my new job. I really thought it was going to be a fresh start, but it became a decision I ended up regretting. I can’t go into the details, but the impact it’s had on my mental health has been heavy, and I’m just trying to move on from it. Since then, it’s felt like a downward spiral. I left that job a couple months ago and now I’m happy to say I’m enjoying where I work now and all the everyone on the team. I’m excited to be where I am now.
Somehow, though, I’ve stayed sober. It’s been almost 9 months since my last drink. I don’t even know how I’ve managed that, with everything going on. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want to drink sometimes—but I know it won’t fix anything. It would only numb things for a minute, and I’m trying to actually heal, not hide.
And honestly… that’s just the tip of the iceberg of what I’ve been navigating. Most days, I feel like I’m hanging on by a thread. Problems keep stacking up while I’m still waiting for even a little relief.
On top of that, I don’t sleep. I was recently diagnosed with severe sleep apnea and I also struggle with insomnia. Today, I start my journey with a PAP machine. Wish me luck.
Mental illness is no joke. Despite everything, I’m trying my best. I’m always trying my best. I just… really want things to start getting better. And a friendly reminder everyone - Be kind. You never know what someone is going through.

8 months.
Honestly, I still can’t believe it. When I first thought about getting sober, I told myself just get through the day, maybe the weekend. I didn’t think I’d make it this far. Not even close.
I’ve dealt with anxiety and depression for a long time. Drinking was how I tried to quiet my mind, how I tried to relax. Before that it was smoking, vaping — always something to take the edge off. Now? I’m still figuring out what the hell to do with myself half the time.
My goal every day is just to make it through, do my best, and be there for my family. Lately, the anxiety’s been bad. The cravings come and go. But I’m holding on. I’m staying strong. I’m not going back.
So I read. I do Pilates. I mess around with puzzles. I even started writing a story — something I never would’ve done before because drinking always came first.
This year has been a fucking challenge. But I’m still here. And I’m not giving up.

7 months sober. Who would’ve thought?
 If you asked me this time last year if I could go this long without drinking, I probably would’ve laughed in your face. Me? Without alcohol? I didn’t think it was possible. Yet here I am—7 months strong.

The past two years have been fucking hard—full of change, some good, some bad, and plenty I never saw coming. But I’ve learned to believe that everything happens for a reason. Every experience, no matter how painful, has shaped me into who I am today.

Truthfully, these last 7 months have been some of the hardest of my life. Not just because of staying sober, but because of everything else going on personally. Honestly, I’m still shocked I haven’t picked up a drink—and I think some of my friends and family are too. But every day I fight. Some days that fight looks fierce, other days it’s just hanging on—but either way, I make it through.

I wouldn’t be here without my husband. He’s been my rock, and the fact that he gave up drinking alongside me has made all the difference.

It’s hard. But it’s worth it. 💪✨
